SHORT TERM RESPITE

Those entering Short Term Respite are typically referred from other treatment programs within the Region for a respite, a breather. Men or women may stay up to 7 days as they address the issues that caused them to leave treatment so that they can return to their treatment facility This program is also available for men and women who are committed to attend treatment and are awaiting a treatment bed.

COMING TO TERMS

Coming to terms with addiction is difficult—and it’s a process. Recovery requires that an addict must relearn simple coping and communication skills that many of us take for granted.

So, when a man in treatment stops at a convenience store for a snack but succumbs to the temptation of the bottle of a new-flavored alcohol, he needs another chance at treatment. Or while at a half-way house, he feels "cured" and thinks he can handle a night out of social drinking, he needs another chance at treatment. When a woman gets in a fight with her roommate who’s in treatment because she can't communicate her needs, she needs another chance at treatment.

Short Term Respite provides people a place to discover what triggers their need to use and an environment to cool off and address their anger. All this, to stay on the path of treatment and recovery.
