WHO WE ARE

Cornhusker Place, a nonprofit organization in Lincoln, provides a safe environment for intoxicated individuals to become sober under the 24-hour care of qualified medical professionals. As a licensed substance abuse treatment center, we offer a range of short-term and longer-term treatments for those with alcohol and other substance addictions.

Originally formed as a detoxification program with 24-hour medical supervision, Cornhusker Place has been helping people become sober since 1983.

Housed at 721 K Street since 1985, our broad continuum of services continues to give clients the tools they need to eventually live healthy, sober, and productive lives.

OUR HISTORY

Cornhusker Place has been a dependable source of substance abuse treatment services in Lincoln since 1983.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Nebraska and our country witnessed a shift in cultural and legal efforts to provide more compassionate care for those struggling with addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Lincoln’s community leaders conscientiously responded. Cornhusker Place, licensed by the State of Nebraska as a substance abuse treatment center, is the result.

We offer appropriate emergency detoxification services for individuals who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs and unable to care for themselves. In addition, Cornhusker Place provides a range of comprehensive, cost-effective treatment programs including intensive outpatient and short-term and longer-term residential treatment for those in need.

We are the only agency outside hospitals serving 16 counties in southeastern Nebraska with this comprehensive range of needed services. Here, clients age 14 and older receive caring 24-hour nursing coverage, medical support, and emergency voluntary and involuntary detoxification services. Located near the downtown area, Cornhusker Place is convenient to the many clients and agencies that require its services.

STAFF AND BOARD SUPPORT

Cornhusker Place’s administrative structure reflects the best practices of delivering quality care to those living with substance addictions. We promote a team approach in caring for our clients. Specially trained professionals from registered nurses to licensed substance abuse and mental health counselors and case managers provide carefully designed services to clients at Cornhusker Place. These valuable professionals receive support from our administrative staff.

A committed group of volunteers from our community provides leadership on our Board of Directors. Our 14-member board displays the technical knowledge and dedication necessary to provide policy guidance and oversight to our daily operations. They fulfill vital roles not only on our board but within the community at large.
